Overview
Indie film is an art form that requires a passion for storytelling; gumption to make things happen; creativity to problem solve under the most unique and peculiar of situations – and most importantly – a group of supporters, friends and professionals, who believe in what’s possible when a dedicated team sets out to make something happen that was not going to happen otherwise.
Making “It” Happen
After over a decade of indie filmmaking, both on their own projects and as key contributors for a diverse range of other films, television and brand marketing projects, Black Chalk Productions is pleased to share that pre-production for The Vast Lonesome is underway, with filming set to begin in Fall 2022.
Black Chalk Productions recently was approved for Fiscal Sponsorship from The Film Collaborative, a nonprofit 501(c)3 organization, which will now allow individual donors and funders to support the making of The Vast Lonesome, while also making a tax-deductible charitable donation. Securing a Fiscal Sponsorship allows Black Chalk Productions to partner with both investors and donors to support their passion for film making and to, in turn, provide a memorable and exciting experience that engages a broader community in the art, passion and creativity of film.

What Your Donation Will Make Possible
Every donation raised will help support independent filmmaking in Arizona. All funds raised (100%) will be used for key pre- and post- production expenses, including:
Securing film locations; set design and construction; wardrobe design and prop creation; reasonable accommodations for talent and crew for approximately 30 days of filming; the safety, care and boarding for horses; post-production special effects, sound design and musical score; and more.
Donation Levels Will Support
$25,000 = Fully fund the production needs for one of the following key areas: Original Musical Score, Old West Set Design & Construction, Period-Specific Wardrobe Design & Procurement, Old West Prop Design & Procurement, Lead Actor Casting
$10,000 = Donation of $10,000 will fully support one of the following: VFX design and creation, Special aerial photography, On-Set Sound Recording, Post-Production Sound Mix, Post-Production Sound Effects Design, Lodging & Meals for Talent and Crew
$5,000 = Donation of $5,000 will fully support: The cost of ONE DAY OF FILMING (includes location expenses, production crew, extras, etc)
$2,500 = Donation of $2,500 will fully support one of the following: Horse Boarding, Meals & Animal Welfare, On-Set Practical Effects (squibs, fog, etc), Hair & Makeup Design, Special Camera Equipment
$1,000 = Donation of $1,000 will support one of the following: Craft Services (meals, water, etc.), Horseback Training for Actors, On-Set Data Backups, Transportation
